Consistent Identity
Building A Unified Brand Across Social Media Applications
A searchable, consistent public username or “nick” on all your business’s social media sites will make your web presence strong and build interest and confidence in your users.
A good strategy is to use one site as your “hub”– we recommend a self-hosted Wordpress blog, of course– and build out from there, using the Wordpress site’s title (ideally, the url as well) or some easy but unique derivation thereof as your public username for every social media application. Most of the social media applications allow you to choose a nickname distinct from the “real” name you may use in your profile.
Say your business’s name is “Sally’s Ice Cream, Inc” and your website’s url is sallysicecream.com,
then sallysicecream, sallyicecream, or sallysice, would be handles to consider. Sally257 would be a bad choice. Remember, the social media username should be unique (otherwise, someone else already has it and you can’t use it), memorable, descriptive and at least similar to your hub site’s name.
