This Just In from Marsha Hammel, who is currently at her winter home up in North Carolina:

Jim,  I am happy to report that my dealer in London has given me an order for 68 pieces, twenty of which are on canvas, all of Jazz Musicians, Singers and Dancers… I have ten done and shipped… this is one of the canvses a 30×40 which was most admired by my friends.. I imagine that they are playing Dixieland Jazz!  Next June I have a show in London; so not only do I have this order to fill, but an opportunity to create new work for a One Person exhibition… My last show in London was canceled because of 9/11.

 

James Cournoyer, Marsha Hammel’s representative in Florida and the Southeast, informs us that Marsha is often commissioned to make paintings of dogs and their companion people, or “owners”, as the humans tend to think of themselves. Dogs know different, though.
